No matter how hard your day was, when you enter home, you feel peace at last. Everyday we’re rushing here and there, not paying enough attention on how we feel and how the space where we live affects us.
It is very important to make our home a shelter from the demanding routine and daily stress. Here are some tips for staying healthy and fresh at home!
1. Stay hydrated
Kick start each morning by drinking two glasses of water before you have breakfast or start exercising. Drinking water the first thing in the morning will boost your metabolism, flush out toxins from your body, help you lose weight and supply oxygen for the brain.
2. Cook healthy nutritious meals
Preparing healthy, nutritious meals at home is an extra step toward following a balanced diet. When you cook at home, you save money and you cut down on junk food. Make sure you buy and use products rich in antioxidants and nutrients. Grains and seeds are always a great add on to simple meals like soups, salads stews or stir fries.
3. Relax and sleep
Nothing can replace a cycle of good night sleep. Having enough, sound sleep is an imperative for good health, fitness and mental clarity. Health experts recommend 7- 8 hours of sleep. If you suffer from insomnia, try incorporating a night ritual like having a warm bath/ shower followed by a cup of hot tea to help you relax and start sleeping properly.
4. Create active body time
Make a schedule for regular physical exercises and stick to it. Staying home doesn’t have to mean turning into a couch potato. Begin your active routine with light exercises and muscle stretching in the morning to feel energized during the day. Also, try dancing workouts like Zumba or gaga dance if you think you’re not the “classical” workout type. All you need is motivation and diligence!
5. Sit back, relax and breathe
Don’t forget to have a “me” time to chill out, reflect the day passed, your thought and your emotions. If you are a social butterfly, spare at least a half an hour for this activity, then invite some friends over for dinner and slurp some new cocktail recipes. Happy people = healthy people.
Although it seems quite the opposite, there are no complex ideas behind healthy living. Joy and wellness during a lifetime mean healthy eating habits, regular physical exercises and stress management.
